The situation

A large asset-intensive organization faced high inventory levels, inconsistent long-term planning practices, limited materials visibility and fragmented governance across inventory and planning activities.

The challenge

The organization needed to improve material availability while reducing excess and obsolete inventory, strengthening working capital performance, clarifying decision rights and improving coordination among Supply Chain, Maintenance, Operations and Finance.

The ISI approach

ISI Consulting Group partnered with supply chain, operations, maintenance, finance and organizational leadership to assess inventory and long-term planning processes.

Implementation

The work evaluated current-state processes, data, governance, planning practices, inventory policies, performance measures, organizational responsibilities and implementation readiness.

Lean supply chain methods, value stream mapping, inventory segmentation, excess and obsolete inventory analysis, process redesign, KPI development, governance design and change management were applied to develop the future-state roadmap.
